On August 7th, the Cybersecurity Brigade of the Shouning County Public Security Bureau, in coordination with the National Security Brigade, successfully investigated an administrative case involving unauthorized access to international internet connections through illegal channels and the browsing of foreign media content deemed harmful to national security. The suspect, Gong, was apprehended, effectively severing the flow of false foreign information into the country and contributing to the ongoing improvement of the online environment.
In early July of this year, during routine operations, the police discovered that Gong had illegally accessed foreign websites back in 2020. Based on this information, Gong was summoned to the Shouning County Public Security Bureau for questioning. The investigation confirmed that Gong had indeed used “VPN” software to unlawfully browse foreign websites and access information, and he admitted to these illegal activities.
In accordance with Articles 14 and 6 of the “Provisional Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on the Administration of International Networking of Computer Information Networks,” the Shouning County Public Security Bureau has legally imposed an administrative penalty on Gong.
The police remind everyone: The internet is not beyond the reach of the law! Many foreign websites may contain harmful content such as promoting feudal superstitions, pornography, and graphic violence. Internet users should engage with online platforms responsibly, adhere to proper online conduct, and browse the internet in a civilized and environmentally conscious manner to help maintain a clean and positive online environment.
