A student’s tragic death in a Northwest Chinese city has resulted in the dismissal of two teachers who verbally attacked the student. On Sunday, the local education authority expressed deep sorrow and committed to enhancing school management for a better educational environment.
The student, attending Yan’an Middle School in Yan’an, Shaanxi Province, died after falling from a building around 2 pm on Thursday. This incident followed inappropriate and improper verbal criticism from a grade-level teacher named Xu and a morals education teacher named Kang in an office, stemming from the student’s reluctance to join a group activity that morning, according to a press release from the Yan’an education bureau on Sunday.
The local education bureau stated that the school has dismissed Xu and Kang from their positions, suspending their school activities pending further investigation.
The education bureau expressed heartfelt sorrow for the student’s death and offered a sincere apology to the family.
The bureau emphasized that it takes the tragedy very seriously and will strive to improve school safety and administration citywide to create a more enjoyable and safe educational environment.
