Hours after Donald Trump imposed record tariffs on Chinese products, the China Film Administration has verified that it will cut down the number of U.S. films permitted to enter the country.
“The improper action of the U.S. government to wrongly impose tariffs on China will surely further decrease the domestic audience’s liking for American films,” the China Film Administration stated in a release on Thursday. “We will follow the market principles, respect the audience’s preference, and appropriately reduce the number of imported American films.”
