Beijing Fangshan Nord Anglia School has informed parents that the school will be closed on July 5th. All students will be transferred to Shunyi Nord Anglia in an orderly manner. To help students adapt to the new environment as quickly as possible, families willing to accept the transfer will be exempted from the first semester’s tuition fees.
Beijing Fangshan Nord Anglia School officially opened in 2019 and has only been operating for five short years. The school offers elementary, middle, and high school programs and is the first school established by Nord Anglia Education Group in Beijing. Despite its unfavorable geographical location, it has still attracted many families due to its advantages of being part of a large educational group and offering boarding options.
According to the school’s official website, a campus open day was originally planned for July 6th. However, the sudden announcement of the school’s closure and the short notice of only one day has left many parents feeling unprepared.
Many parents have expressed that due to their loss of confidence in the group, they do not wish to transfer to Shunyi Nord Anglia, fearing that they may face the same situation again soon. For example, just half a month ago, parents in Shenzhen revealed that Shenzhen Longhua Nord Anglia School would cease operations from September this year due to operational funding issues. Nord Anglia has already closed several schools in China.
Shenzhen Longhua Nord Anglia:
In March 2024, parents of students currently attending the school reported that they suddenly received official notification from the school. Due to core issues such as operational funding, the school decided to cease operations from the next semester. The school offered two choices for current students: transfer to Guangzhou Nord Anglia Bilingual School or transfer to Avenues Shenzhen.
Ningbo Nord Anglia:
It is rumored that Ningbo Nord Anglia is also facing the risk of closure. The school’s official WeChat public account was last updated in January 2024.
