On February 7, Joseph and Jawad, two Pakistani exchange students from Gannan Medical University in Jiangxi, were on a trip in Shanghai. As they were leaving Shanghai Songjiang Railway Station, they suddenly noticed an elderly person who had fallen to the ground. In this urgent situation, the two students promptly stepped up and offered help with their professional knowledge.
It was said that many passengers at the scene were at a loss. The two students informed the police that they were clinical medicine students from Gannan Medical University. With permission, they immediately approached to evaluate the elderly person’s condition. They found that the elderly person was unconscious, had ceased breathing, had an extremely faint pulse, and their lips were purple. Right away, they started to carry out first aid using the emergency skills they had learned at school.
Joseph carried out several rounds of CPR and mouth – to – mouth resuscitation. Jawad helped by keeping an eye on the elderly person’s condition. After the fourth round of CPR, the elderly person gradually regained consciousness and started breathing independently. During the entire rescue process, the two students observed attentively and remained by the elderly person’s side, thus buying precious time for the emergency response. Finally, the elderly person was successfully taken to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment. Currently, the elderly person’s condition is stable.
After learning about the heroic deeds of the two students, Gannan Medical University commended Joseph and Jawad. They were presented with certificates of bravery and given a reward.
