A knife attack occurred on Saturday evening at a campus in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, East China, leaving eight people dead and 17 others injured, as reported by local public security authorities.
The incident took place at around 6:30 p.m. at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing. A man attacked individuals with a knife, resulting in eight fatalities and 17 injuries. The suspect was apprehended at the scene, according to the Yixing Public Security Bureau.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, a 21-year-old male surnamed Xu, graduated from the institute in 2024. He carried out the attack as an act of retaliation due to his failure to pass exams and obtain his diploma, combined with dissatisfaction over his internship compensation. Xu has admitted to committing the crime.
Efforts are currently underway to treat the injured, address the aftermath, and conduct a thorough investigation into the case.
