The National Immigration Administration issued an announcement today stating that a new policy granting a 144-hour visa-free stay in Hainan for foreign tour groups from Hong Kong and Macao will be implemented.
This policy allows citizens of countries that have established diplomatic relations with China, holding ordinary passports, to travel to Hainan visa-free if they enter as part of a tour group organized by a registered travel agency in Hong Kong or Macao, with a minimum of two people.
Under this new policy, eligible travellers can enjoy a visa-free stay of up to 144 hours in Hainan, starting from the day following their entry. The policy applies to all open ports in Hainan province that handle entry and exit procedures. The tour group must enter and exit collectively, and their activities are limited to the administrative area of Hainan province.
According to officials from the National Immigration Administration, the implementation of the 144-hour visa-free policy for foreign tour groups from Hong Kong and Macao visiting Hainan is a fresh measure to support the comprehensive and high-level opening-up of Hainan and to facilitate the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. This policy is of great significance in promoting Hainan’s development as a more open, business-friendly, and influential high-level open economic zone.
